Bernadette Peters

 

Bernadette Peters (nee Lazzara ) born February 28, 1948) is an American singer, actress and children's book writer. In her career of six decades she has appeared on television, film and musical theatre. She has also performed in solo concerts and recorded. She is a highly-acclaimed Broadway performerwho has received seven nominations for Tony Awards, winning two (plus an honorary award), and nine Drama Desk Award nominations, receiving three. Four of her Broadway casting albums in which she has starred have received Grammy Awards.



 



 Many believe Peters to be the best Stephen Sondheim interpreter. She is particularly well-known for her performances on Broadway including Mack and Mabel (1974), Sunday in the Park with George (1884), Song and Dance (1885), Into the Woods with George (1987), The Goodbye Girl (1993), Annie Get Your Gun (1999), Gypsy (2003), A Little Night Music (2010), Follies (2009) and Hello, Dolly (2018).
